G’day guys
Happy new year to our clients past, present and future i hope you all had a wonderful festive season.
What a year 2018 was with some great captures for my clients. One of the fishing charter standouts being Joe’s 107cm Sydney harbour Kingfish on the first kingfish trip of the season! This set the scene for what was a great lead up to christmas with most trips catching loads of 65cm to 90cm kingfish and more rats(<65cm) than you could poke a stick at!
I’ve been gearing up over the last few months to start guiding fly fishing anglers with my first few trips yeilding some good results. It certainly is a fun way to catch the hard fighting kingfish with some heart in mouth moments especially when they rip line through the anglers’ fingers, charging for cover and a certain bust off!
Back on the Hawkesbury river there was some red hot Bream fishing on the flats with one session yeilding 25 fish to 39cm predominately on surface lures but the odd one was taken deeper on soft plastic lures. At times three anglers had multiple fish boiling and slurping at their surface lures simultaneously! It’s not over either with autumn approaching it has always been a consistent producder of big bream on lures as the days get shorter. Book in to experience these awesome flats feeders for yourself.
I have multiple 2.5hr Fishin Tuition sessions coming up in mid to late January and February with a few time slots still available. Learn the finer art of fishing with soft plastic lures. Drop me a mine on 0405 196 253 to jump on one. They are great value at $100 per person.
Recently on my way down the Parramatta river i was waved out by a bunch of young blokes on a ferry wharf hooked up big time on game tackle, harness and all! I proceeded to pick up my client for his fishing charter and informed him of what i had just witnessed. I suggested we should offer them a hand as the ferry services would be about to kick off, client Darren agreed and off we went to offer a helping hand. The young blokes Connor and George were sweating after an hour and a half fight on 37kg tackle and were greatful for the offer. We spent the best part of 40 minutes getting owned by what seemed like a submarine sized shark, most likely a bull shark. It eventually headed for a dense patch of moorings on the far side and proceeded to wrap itself around one creating a stale mate and some tense moments as we circled the mooring trying to free the line. It won but i got this cool shot as a momento…
If you’re looking for something to do on the weekends or this school holidays and dont want the hassle of owning, towing and maintaining your own boat, i have recently started a new business named Hawkesbury River Hire Boats offering boat hire on the hawkesbury river from my home town of Spencer. We have equipped ourselves with a couple of 4.2m Quintrex hulls and 8hp Yamaha four stroke outboards for reliablility and ease of use for clients. Departing from Spencer public wharf you will be right in the heart of some of the fishest water in the whole hawkesbury river. Typically sheltered from wind and minimal boat traffic, it’s a great location to spend quality time with friends and family. We also offer rod and reel hire for hire boat customers too. Check us out on Instagram, Facebook or on our website www.hawkesburyhireboats.com.au
The coming months leading into autumn should see some great kingfishing sessions and what many are awaiting is the start of my Mulloway season kicking off from March 2019. Book in early to secure the better tides and dates.
Cheers
